Following a period in corporate management between 1967 and 1971, Josep Rabionet made a full transition into the world of law when he studied for the civil service examination to become a public prosecutor and afterwards began his career as an independent legal practitioner. He has been the General Secretary of the Besòs Manufacturers Association since 1974, now called the Baix Vallès Manufacturers Association; he was instrumental in setting it up. He has a profound knowledge of all the fields in the business world and has advised companies and defended their interests before labour and civil courts, and the contentious-administrative courts. He also enjoys well-deserved reputation for his extensive knowledge of tax law. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in the incorporation of over one hundred companies; has overseen mergers and divisions, as well as major takeovers; and has acted as legal counsel in numerous temporary receiverships, bankruptcies and legal proceedings of all types. Following his retirement in 2014, he deregistered as a member of the Barcelona Bar Association and handed the firm over to the people who had been his partners in recent years. They set up what has become Rabionet Rico & Associats, which continues to seek his advice as a consultant.
